Today’s engineers are fortunate in the number and variety of development tools and components that are available for them to choose between. However, this profusion of options can be a challenge in itself.
Some useful tips when making new designs:
- Keep it simple! Try to focus on the problem you want to solve and don't add many fancy functions.
- If you are designing for a specific market, have the specific requirements for that market in mind from the beginning.
- Have the supply chain for key components in mind and go with well-known brands. Avoid use of components marked with “not for new design” by the manufacturers.
- Always try to get as many manufactures, for a given component, approved in your design as possible.
This will contribute to an easier compliance with approvals and lead to a shortened design lifecycle and faster speed to market.
