The FTDI USB-KEY is a USB stick designed to be a security device for particular software applications. The USB stick features a unique ID number which can be used to unlock systems.

How does it connect?

The FTDI USB-KEY has a USB connector which can be inserted straight into your PC. This supplies power to the USB Key.

What else do I need?

The unique number within the USB Key can only be used alongside the FTDChipID.dll. It provides function calls to the USB-KEY device. The DLL can be downloaded from the FTDI website and it is compatible with Windows (V1.1.0), Linux (V0.1.0) and Mac OS X (V0.1.0).

You will also need the D2XX drivers which can be downloaded from the same directory.

This can be added with SafeGuard-IT Active-X control for Windows. It generates asymmetric public-private key encryption for additional security.
