Honeywell 14CE Series Limit Switch, 11.8N Operating Force, Die Cast Zinc Housing - 14CE1-3A

This limit switch provides an electromechanical means to detect and interrupt motion within industrial control systems. Designed for use where positional feedback or end-sTOP detection is required, it operates via a TOP pin plunger actuator and delivers a Rapid change of contact state suitable for automation, electrical and mechanical assemblies.

Features and Benefits:

• SPDT snap-action contacts give quick circuit transition and clear signalling
• Rated switching at 250V AC for common industrial supply integration
• Cable-entry terminals simplify wiring in panel and field installations
• Operating force of 11.8 N ensures consistent actuation under load
• Mechanical endurance of 10 million cycles supports long service intervals
• IP65/IP66/IP67/IP68 ingress protection enables use in harsh environments

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-stop sensing in material handling systems
• Ideal for position feedback on machine tools and CNC equipment
• Used for safety interlock detection on access panels and guards
• Can be used for actuation detection in hydraulic and pneumatic valves
• Suitable for integration into PLC input panels for status monitoring

What contact arrangement does it provide for control circuits?

It uses a single-pole double-throw configuration allowing one common contact to switch between two outputs for simple changeover or fail-safe wiring.

Which ambient temperatures are acceptable for reliable operation?

The unit is specified to operate within a minimum of 0°C up to a maximum of 70°C, covering typical indoor and controlled outdoor installations.

What material protects the switch body from mechanical wear?

The enclosure is formed from die-cast zinc to offer impact resistance and dimensional stability in industrial applications.

What electrical load can be switched on the DC side?

It is rated to switch up to 30V DC at the stated switching current for low-voltage control circuits.

How is mounting achieved when multiple units are fitted together?

It is designed for gang mounting to allow side-by-side installation for consolidated sensor arrays.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Warning

14CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can incur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 14CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 14CE limit switch also meets NEMA, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
