One of the improvements is that the 77 IV has more measuring functions allowing you to be much more accurate.

This battery powered handheld multimeter has an average responding-rms with a 6000 count, 3 3/4 digit display and analogue bar graph. It has a wide 1000V measurement range and auto as well as manual ranging.
