Fluke Multimeter, 1000V Maximum DC Voltage Measurement, True RMS Functionality - FLUKE 28 IIEX

This multimeter is an intrinsically safe, true‑RMS handheld instrument designed for use in hazardous gas zones and harsh external environments. It combines high‑resolution measurement capability with sealed protection against water and dust, enabling technicians in automation, electrical and process industries to perform precision diagnostics both inside and outside Ex areas.

Features & Benefits

• True‑RMS measurement for accurate readings on non‑linear signals
• Measures up to 1000V and 10 A for broad system coverage
• DC voltage accuracy ±0.05% for high‑precision measurements
• AC current accuracy ±1% rdg + 2 digits for dependable load checks
• Frequency measurement to 200 kHz to diagnose VSDs and switching supplies
• Battery life approx. 400 h using AAA cells for extended field use

Applications

• Suitable for checking VSD output and motor drive signals
• Ideal for commissioning and fault‑finding in hazardous zones
• Used for measuring capacitance in motor start/run circuits
• Can be used for temperature checks with compatible probes
• Suitable for leakage and high‑resistance conductance testing

How does the instrument handle transient events?

It captures Peak transients with a 250 μs capture window to Record brief spikes during switching events.

What display and visibility aids are provided for PPE use?

The instrument has a large digit display with a two‑level bright white backlight and backlit keypad buttons for low‑light conditions.

How are batteries and fuses accessed in the field?

A separate battery compartment allows AAA batteries and fuses to be replaced without affecting instrument calibration, noting batteries must be Ex‑approved for hazardous zones.

What safety and measurement categories does it meet?

It conforms to IEC measurement categories up to CAT III 1000V and CAT IV 600V and meets Ex certification standards for Zone 1/Division 1 gas areas.
