Fluke Network Cable Tester, 20h Battery Life, RJ45 Connector Type - MS2-TTK

This network cable tester is a handheld verifier designed to locate and diagnose faults in low-voltage copper and Coax installations. It checks wiring continuity, identifies remote terminations, measures pair length and distance to fault, and detects Ethernet, POTS and PoE services, making it suitable for on-site verification and fault finding in industrial and commercial cable runs.

Features & Benefits

• Graphical wiremap displays pair faults and remote IDs for fast diagnosis
• Length testing to 460m with 0.3m resolution for precise fault location
• IntelliTone digital and analogue toning locates cables in bundles effectively
• Detects advertised Ethernet speeds including 10/100/1000 to identify link type
• Battery powered with 20 h typical life using two AA cells for extended field use

Applications

• Suitable for validating twisted-pair and Coax installations during commissioning
• Ideal for verifying POTS lines and identifying telephone wiring faults
• Used for locating and tracing cables within bundles on site
• Can be used for checking PoE presence on installed network devices
• Used with punch-down tools during patch-panel and cabinet work

What connector types does it accept for tests?

The unit accepts 8‑pin modular jacks for RJ45 and 4‑pin for RJ11 and provides an F‑connector for Coax testing.

How is environmental robustness specified for site use?

It operates between 0°C and 45°C, survives a 1m drop test, and meets shock and vibration Class 2 criteria.

Which standards and safety approvals are relevant?

It complies with IEC 61326-1 for EMC and meets IEC 61010-1 safety requirements.

What power options are supported besides alkaline AA?

It can also use AA photo-lithium or rechargeable NiMH/NiCd cells as alternatives.

How accurate is length measurement in practical terms?

Typical accuracy is ±4% or ±0.6m whichever is greater, with user-settable NVP for improved precision.
