When placed at the beginning of an X20 block, it ensures a unique starting address, with subsequent modules automatically receiving ascending addresses. This functionality enhances application flexibility and allows address assignment independent of the specific I/O modules used. It also offers logistical benefits by reducing part variety and overall system cost.
