RS PRO 890-Piece Cross Recess Pan & Countersunk Head Self Tapping Screw Kit
From the trusted RS PRO professional brand, this set of high-quality Pozidriv flat pan and countersunk head self-tapping screws are ideal for many applications. Self-tapping screws are split into two main categories, thread-forming and thread-cutting. The screws are similar in the job they do however they have two noticeable differences. Thread-forming screws have a flat base whereas thread-cutting screws have a sharp point. The difference between self-tapping and self-drilling fasteners is that self-tapping screws will tap a hole into a soft material, self-drilling screws can drill a hole into anything from metal to wood meaning no pilot hole is needed.
Self-tapping screws are traditionally used where an application requires regular maintenance and regular easy access. These screws are useful in situations where products must be assembled and disassembled, such as access panels or even furniture.
These thread-cutting self-tapping screws are made from A4 stainless steel, also known as 316 Grade stainless steel or Marine Grade for its high hardness level and high resistance to wear & tear.
In this kit, you will find 890 self-tapping screws in pan and flat countersunk head variations, in thread sizes 10, 8 and 6 and with lengths ranging from 3/8in to 1in.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between thread-forming and thread-cutting screws?
Before using a thread-forming screw, it is recommended that a pilot hole is drilled into the material. As thread-forming screws have a flat nose, it makes the drilling process easier. Thread-forming screws are used when fastening plastic together.
Thread-cutting screws dont require any preparation as they have a pointed tip, making a pre-drilled pilot hole unnecessary. Thread-cutting screws can pierce a small entry hole while being driven into the material the thread is being created.
