SKF Seal, 60mm Inside Diameter, 80mm Outside Diameter - 60X80X8 HMS5 RG

This radial shaft seal is designed to separate rotating and stationary components, preventing oil or grease leakage in machinery. It features an elastomeric sealing lip with a spring to maintain contact and a rubber outside diameter for press-fit into housings, making it suitable for rotating assemblies in industrial equipment.

Features & Benefits

• Nitrile lip resists oil and grease exposure
• Garter spring preserves radial sealing force during rotation
• Accommodates shaft misalignment to reduce wear
• Permissible circumferential speed 8.58 m/s for dynamic usage

Applications

• Suitable for bearing housings in automation equipment
• Ideal for gearboxes requiring oil containment
• Used with rotating shafts in electrical drive systems
• Can be used for maintenance of industrial motors and pumps

What limits the rotational speed I can use it at?

The seal is rated to a maximum rotational speed of 2760 r/min

exceeding this may increase heat and compromise the sealing lip.

How does the outside construction affect installation?

The rubber outer diameter with metal reinforcement provides a secure press-fit in the housing bore while allowing some compliance for easier assembly.

What temperature excursions can it tolerate briefly?

Short-term exposure up to 120°C is permitted, above the continuous 100°C operating maximum, for transient thermal events.

Is there an accessory to protect worn shafts prior to fitting?

A compatible speedi-sleeve is specified for repair of damaged or worn shaft surfaces before seal installation.
