StarTech Ethernet Cable, 24AWG Conductor, Grey Jacket - N6LPATCH50CMGR

This ethernet cable is a short Cat6 patch lead designed for LAN connections where low-smoke, PVC-free construction is required. It provides multi-gigabit data links and power delivery over twisted-pair copper conductors for use with network interfaces, switches and PoE devices in installations that demand reduced toxic emissions in the event of fire.

Features and Benefits:

• 250MHz bandwidth supports higher throughput for fast networks
• 100W PoE capability delivers sustained power for devices
• 24AWG stranded copper ensures flexible electrical continuity
• Unscreened U/UTP construction reduces weight and complexity
• Snagless RJ45 boots protect connector clips during installation

Applications

• Suitable for connecting NICs to switches in edge deployments
• Ideal for powering PoE laptops and VoIP handsets
• Used with NAS units requiring high-speed links
• Can be used for short-run 10GbE connections up to 55m
• Suitable for installations requiring LSZH-rated cabling

What conductor material is used and why is it relevant?

The cable uses 100% copper stranded conductors which provide better conductivity and heat dissipation compared with copper-clad alternatives.

How does the jacket material affect safety in buildings?

The Low Smoke Zero Halogen jacket limits smoke and corrosive gas levels during combustion, improving visibility and reducing corrosive residues.

What environmental limits should be observed during use?

Operate and store the cable between 0°C and 80°C and within 0% RH-95% RH humidity ranges.

What impedance and DC resistance characteristics are specified?

The cable impedance is 100 ohms ±15% at 250MHz and maximum DC resistance is 14 ohms per 1000ft (305m).
