The Linear Technology single and dual protected high side switches offer low low RDS(ON) switching. The LTC1477 and LTC1478 series of high side switches have built-in protection against short-circuit and thermal overload conditions. These devices also have a built-in charge pump which generates a gate drive above the supply voltage to enhance the internal NMOS switch. There are two levels of protection with the LTC1477 and LTC1478 series. A short-circuit current limit which is set at 2A which can be reduced to 0.85A by disconnecting portions of the power device. The second is provided by a thermal overload protection which limits the die temperature to approx. 130°C.
