SICK STR1 Series Safety Switch, IP67, 24V DC supply voltage - STR1-SAXM10P5

This non-contact safety switch uses RFID sensing to monitor guards and access points in industrial settings. It provides safe outputs via self-monitoring semiconductor outputs and includes an auxiliary contact for complementary signalling. The unit is suitable for hygienic and wet environments thanks to high ingress protection and operates across a wide ambient temperature range, supporting diagnostic LED indicators and a 10m fitted cable for direct integration into safety circuits.

Features and Benefits:

• SIL 3 safety level reduces residual risk from failures
• Category 4 safety architecture supports PL e functional safety
• Assured switch-on distance 14mm ensures predictable actuation
• IP69K rating permits high-pressure washdown environments
• 100mA contact current minimises load on control circuits

Applications

• Suitable for food processing machinery with washdown regimes
• Ideal for packaging lines requiring non-contact interlocks
• Used with safety controllers needing dual OSSD outputs
• Can be used for machine guards where hygienic design matters

What supply voltage range does it accept?

It accepts 24V DC with an operational range of 19.2V DC to 28.8V DC.

How is actuation detected and how many Active faces are present?

Actuation is detected by an RFID sensing principle and three Active sensor surfaces cover the TOP and both sides.

What cable and connection details are provided for installation?

It is supplied with a 10m five-core PVC cable with 0.12mm² conductors and a maximum recommended fixed run of 200m.

How does the device behave on a detected fault?

In a fault, at least one safety-related semiconductor output switches to the OFF state to maintain a safe condition.
