The housing and sealing element are both aluminium which offers good thermal conductivity and relatively uniform expansion under temperature changes compared with mixed-metal designs.

It can replace rings of similar external size where an aluminium construction and seal are acceptable, provided mounting interfaces and load ratings are compatible.
