This versatile silver steel rod is the perfect choice if you need to make your own tooling parts. It is fully compliant with the BS1407 silver steel standards and comes in a length of 1 metre, with a 20 mm outside diameter.

Silver steel gets its name from its aesthetically pleasing shine, which comes from its high carbon and chrome content. This also makes the material noticeably tough, so it's excellent for punches, pinions and gauges. In addition, the rod is ground to a very close tolerance of +0/-0.015 mm, so it's ideally suited for applications that demand accuracy, such as dowels, spindles and shafts.
