This Ethernet media converter from StarTech.com converts light-based optical-fibre data signals to the electrical signals used in copper-based networks. For broad compatibility, it has an open SFP (small form-factor pluggable) slot for any standard SFP connection. It has a mean time before failure (MTBF) of more than 500,000 hours and a broad operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C for use in demanding environments. This device is commonly used to connect Wi-Fi access points and surveillance cameras to a network switch when no power connection is available.
