The Telemecanique Sensors Inductive Proximity sensor is used in detecting metal objects near it. It is used in wide range of situations. An electromagnetic field is created by the sensor around its face, when field is disturbed due to interference of a metal piece in it sensor switches on and switches off in absence of metal in the generated field.

Its frontal face allows it to detect metal objects up to 10mm
